What is Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Brain?
Rhabdomyosarcoma of the brain is a type of malignant tumour that arises from the cells that form skeletal muscles (rhabdomyoblasts). While rhabdomyosarcoma most commonly occurs in areas like the head and neck, urinary and reproductive organs, and extremities, its presence in the brain is extremely rare. When it does manifest in the brain, it’s typically due to metastasis from another primary site.
Symptoms
The symptoms of Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Brain can vary depending on the tumour’s size and location, but might include:
- Persistent or worsening headaches.
- Nausea or vomiting, especially upon waking.
- Seizures or convulsions.
- Vision or hearing disturbances.
- Neurological deficits like weakness or numbness in parts of the body.
