Muir–Torre Syndrome (MTS) is a rare, inherited condition that increases the risk of certain skin and internal cancers—most notably colorectal cancer. It is considered a variant of Lynch syndrome (hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer or HNPCC), a genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to repair DNA.
Many sufferers of Muir–Torre Syndrome struggle because they feel that their disease doesn’t have the same level of awareness as more common cancers. Without a Ribbon is an Australian non-profit organisation that believes that rare cancers should never go unnoticed. We aim to provide a detailed set of resources and information for anyone suffering from cancers such as Muir–Torre Syndrome. We have recently created an Muir–Torre Syndrome resource page to help sufferers understand their disease. It covers the symptoms, available treatments and other important information.
We hope that this resource page will help you or a friend/family member to learn about their illness and aid them through their battle with the disease.
