An Askin Tumour is a rare type of cancer that develops in the soft tissues of the chest wall, often affecting the ribs. It is part of the Ewing sarcoma family, a group of cancers that form in bones or soft tissues.
This tumour mostly affects children, teenagers, and young adults, with the highest risk occurring in the late teens or early 20s. It is more common in males than females.
Many sufferers of Askin Tumour struggle because they feel that their disease doesn’t have the same level of awareness as more common cancers. Without a Ribbon is an Australian non-profit organisation that believes that rare cancers should never go unnoticed. We aim to provide a detailed set of resources and information for anyone suffering from cancers such as Askin Tumour. We have recently created an Askin Tumour resource page to help sufferers understand their disease. It covers the symptoms, available treatments and other important information.
We hope that this resource page will help you or a friend/family member to learn about their illness and aid them through their battle with the disease.
